Yahoo! Purple Crew Kampanye Peduli Lingkungan

Selama ini, Yahoo! identik dengan warna ungu. Sekarang, mereka mencoba mengampanyekan warna lain, yaitu hijau.

Jangan heran dulu. Kampanye hijau yang dimaksud di sini adalah kampanye peduli lingkungan alias “go green”. Dalam aksinya, Yahoo! merekrut tiga anak muda Indonesia sebagai bagian dari Purple Crew.

Para anggota Yahoo! Purple Crew Indonesia tersebut ialah Adyani Ika Syahputri (22 tahun), seorang mahasiswi public relations; Fitri Vilona (19 tahun), pegawai negeri muda; dan Byantica Ayu Pratama (23 tahun), sarjana yang baru saja lulus kuliah. Ketiganya diseleksi dari sekitar 400 kandidat setelah menilik visi masa depan serta keinginan untuk membuat sebuah perubahan yang mereka paparkan 

Dalam masukan mereka, Adyani berbagi visinya dalam mendorong komunitas universitas untuk mengurangi jejak karbon melalui “BYOB2 – Bring Your Own Box and Bottle” (Bawa tempat makan dan tempat minum pribadi). Ide ini diharapkan dapat mengurangi kuantitas penggunaan plastik besar-besaran untuk kemasan makanan yang dibuang di sekitar wilayah kampus setiap harinya.

Sesama Purple Crew lainnya, Fitri, mengungkapkan keinginan untuk mendorong penanaman sayuran dan obat-obatan di tengah-tengah komunitas untuk mengurangi ketergantungan akan makanan dari kota.

Sementara itu, Byantica menyatakan kekhawatirannya akan jumlah sampah yang memprihatinkan di wilayah Jakarta. Ia menyarankan program daur ulang yang dapat mentransformasi sampah menjadi produk-produk baru dan di waktu yang sama dapat menciptakan mata pencaharian serta pemasukan bagi para pekerja. 

“Kegiatan Purple Crew mencerminkan fokus Yahoo! untuk terlibat dengan anak-anak muda Indonesia dan membantu menyuarakan ide mereka untuk memotivasi komunitas yang lebih luas dalam melakukan sebuah perubahan yang baik,” ujar Pontus Sonnerstedt (Country Manager, Yahoo! Indonesia) dalam keterangannya.

Selama tiga bulan kedepan, ketiga Purple Crew akan bekerja sama dengan organisasi sosial dan lingkungan hidup. Mereka pun bakal mengunjungi beberapa SMA, universitas, dan sejumlah komunitas Yahoo! di Jakarta, Semarang, dan Bandung untuk berbagi misi serta mendorong yang lainnya untuk segera mengambil aksi.

ESET Sapa Pengunjung Indocomtech 2010

Indocomtech—eksibisi teknologi informasi dan komputer terbesar—kembali hadir menyapa para pelaku bidang teknologi informasi dan komputer di tanah air.

Seperti pada tahun-tahun sebelumnya, Indocomtech 2010 yang berlangsung pada 3-7 November 2010 ini pun mengambil tempat di Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) dan dibuka oleh Menteri Komunikasi dan Informasi RI, Tifatul Sembiring.

Nuansa edukasi yang ringan dan seru memang menjadi prioritas mereka dalam event ini. Kompetisi berhadiah total 46 juta ini bukan sebarang kompetisi karena selain main game, gamers pun bisa menikmati sebuah dimensi lain dari bermain game. Canon Sukses Raih Tiga Penghargaan Berbeda

Menjelang penghujung tahun, tiga penghargaan berbeda menghampiri Canon sebagai pengakuan atas produk-produknya.

Anugerah pertama yang diperoleh adalah Indonesian Customer Satisfaction Award (ICSA) 2010. Ajang ini diselenggarakan untuk memberi penghargaan bagi para produsen yang berhasil memuaskan pelanggannya. Kriteria inilah yang dipenuhi produk printer Canon.
Luar biasanya, penghargaan ICSA tahun ini bukanlah yang pertama bagi Canon. Terhitung sejak 2004, Canon selalu meraih gelar serupa untuk kategori printer. “Ini merupakan bukti bahwa Canon berhasil mempertahankan loyalitas dan memberikan kepuasan para konsumen,” ujar Merry Harun (Director Canon Division, PT Datascrip) menanggapi kesuksesan ini.

Anugerah kedua yang digaet Canon ialah Indonesia's Most Favorite Netizen Brand 2010 untuk kategori kamera digital. Penghargaan ini diberikan oleh majalah The Marketeers, berdasarkan survei yang dilakukan MarkPlus Inc., lembaga riset dan konsultasi pemasaran milik Hermawan Kartajaya.

Munculnya nama Canon membuktikan popularitasnya di kalangan pengguna internet tanah air.

Spam Menurun, Phishing Meningkat

Dibandingkan bulan Agustus 2010, gelombang spam bulan Oktober mengalami penurunan sebesar 3,11 persen. Demikian menurut laporan bulanan Symantec
Dua serangan besar yang sempat mampir adalah serangan "here you have" pada awal September dan pesan palsu LinkedIn pada akhir September. Karena pesan berbahaya (malicious) terus mengotori internet, maka keseluruhan volume pesanspam justru berkurang secara signifikan dari bulan ke bulan. Symantec kini melihat volume terendah sejak penghentian McColo di tahun 2008.

Sementara itu, phishing (pencurian password) justru mengalami peningkatan.  Secara keseluruhan, phishing meningkat 52 persen di bulan Oktober ini terutama disebabkan oleh peningkatan di kedua serangan toolkit otomatis dan website phishing yang unik.

Ini tampak dari website phishing yang dibuat menggunakan toolkit otomatis meningkat 46 persen di bulan September. Sedangkan URL yang unik meningkat 83 persen dan website phishing dengan domain IP (mis. domain seperti http://255.255.255.255) meningkat sekitar 35 persen.

Lain lagi dari penyedia layanan web yang menyumbang 12 persen dari keseluruhan phishing, yakni peningkatan 30 persen dari bulan sebelumnya.

Jumlah situs phishing non-Bahasa Inggris pun meningkat sebesar 17 persen. Namun demikian, bahasa Perancis dan Italia adalah dua bahasa yang mengalami peningkatan tinggi di bulan September.

Penghargaan Digital Marketing Award 2010 yang diberikan ini semakin melengkapi portofolio pencapain HP tahun ini. Qualcomm Segera Hadirkan Platform Nirkabel Peanut

Dalam setahun ke depan, Qualcomm bakal menghadirkan platform jaringan nirkabel bernama Peanut yang telah digodok oleh laboratorium perusahaan tersebut selama 4 tahun terakhir.

Kehadiran platform Peanut akan menyempurnakan kinerja platform nirkabel yang telah ada sebelumnya, yaitu Bluetooth dan Zigbee dalam hal konsumsi daya listrik dan kecepatan transfer paket data.

Meskipun hanya memerlukan daya listrik beberapa miliWatt, Peanut sanggup menyalurkan paket data sebesar beberapa Megabit per detik. Karenanya, Peanut akan sanggup diaplikasikan untuk transfer paket data audio bahkan video secara nirkabel.

Rentang daya jangkau Peanut diperkirakan mampu melingkupi sebuah ruangan, dari beberapa inci sampai beberapa kaki. Oleh karena itu wilayah jangkauan komunikasi tersebut bakal disebut sebagai Body Area Network.

Peanut diproyeksi akan digunakan sebagai komunikasi antar perangkat mesin manufaktur, perangkat pengawasan dan keamanan, sampai dengan perangkat telepon genggam seluler serta perangkat tata suara stereo di mobil.
